Large-scale observational studies suggest that regular use of traditional Finnish saunas – dry heat at 80–99°C (176–210°F) – is linked to a lower risk of dementia and cardiovascular death. Infrared saunas, despite their popularity, haven’t been studied for cognitive outcomes in humans. While the evidence isn’t conclusive, dry sauna may be a safe and worthwhile addition to a broader brain health routine – one that’s grounded in daily movement, restorative sleep, and a nutrient-dense diet.
